BIBLE READING: Daniel 9:1-3

1 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;

2 In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:

THE MESSAGE:

Prayer is powerful; when you pray intentionally and with purpose, you will have life-changing experiences. In today’s Bible reading, Daniel sought God with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes to show that he was longing for a divine intervention. Praying with intent means engaging your whole heart in conversation with God. It involves being specific about your needs and trusting Him for answers.

Many people use vain repetitions when they pray; however, intentional prayer requires clear and faith-filled requests (Mark 11:24). God cares about every detail of your life, so it is important that you talk to Him honestly and boldly.

I am usually happy whenever | see teenagers pray in tongues; however, it is important to note that intentional prayers also require that you pray with understanding. It is in that process that the Holy Spirit gives you clarity and helps you to pray more according to the will of God. My dear child, I implore you to spend more time in studying your Bible so that you can learn how to pray according to God’s will at all times.

KEY POINT:
Intentional prayers involve bold, honest, and faith-filled conversations with God.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Deuteronomy 2-4
