Dunamis Seeds Of Destiny 29 August 2026 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche
TOPIC: Taking The Lead In Prayer.
SCRIPTURE: And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed… – Mark 14:35
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Laziness at the place of prayer is an application for obscurity and calamity in life.
THE MESSAGE:
Prayer is a fundamental requirement in the life of every child of God. That is why one critical area where every genuine Christian or leader must take the lead is in the place of prayer.
A leader is someone who takes the lead in all spheres. Our master Jesus showed us this example when He went forward a little and prayed (Mark 14:35). Taking the lead at the place of prayer is a vital requirement for anyone who desires relevance and impact in life and destiny.
Laziness at the place of prayer is an application for obscurity and calamity in life. It does not matter what your assignment is in the House of God; you must take the lead in prayer if you want to get ahead in life.
One major focus of prayer is the maintenance of personal spiritual health and well-being. Some people are physically well but spiritually sick. The place of prayer is the place of spiritual therapy. It is a place of spiritual treatment and well-being.
Another focus of prayer is the establishment of the plan and purpose of God for His Church and His people. As a member of God’s Kingdom, take this responsibility as if you were the one upon whom the destiny of the church depends.
We must also pray against the agenda of the enemy for the Church of God. In Mathew 16:18, Jesus declares that He would build His Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
In our study today, we shall be looking at a few examples of people who took the lead in prayer, amongst other things in Scripture.
Joshua. (Exodus 24:13-18).
While Moses spoke with God on top of the mountain, Joshua was not playing; he tarried at the foot of the mountain. He remained there for forty solid days. As a result, when it was time for someone to replace Moses, it was no other person but Joshua. His commitment at the place of prayer prepared him for leadership.
Our Master Jesus Christ (Luke 3:21-22).
When all other people were baptised, Jesus was also baptised like them, but unlike them, he prayed. Everyone was baptised, but He was the only person who was baptised and did something in addition to the baptism – He prayed. That prayer set Him apart from the rest.
Elijah (James 5:17-18).
Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, yet he differentiated himself by praying earnestly.
He prayed, and his prayer life made him a force in his generation.
Beloved, if you must take the lead in life, you must first take the lead at the place of prayer. Prayer is not an option; it is a necessity for preservation, distinction, relevance, and impact.
REMEMBER THIS: Laziness at the place of prayer is an application for obscurity and calamity in life.
