TOPIC: The Weakness Of “Strength”.

SCRIPTURE: But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God. – 2 Chronicles 26:16

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A major pitfall on the journey of life and destiny is the pitfall of pride and arrogance.

THE MESSAGE:

The Scripture above is part of a very disturbing story, one of the most painful stories in Scripture. It is the story of King Uzziah, a king marvellously helped by God until he became strong.

But then something undesirable happened to him after he was made strong by the help of God. The same strength lifted up his heart, and that lifting became the very thing that destroyed him.

A major pitfall on the journey of life and destiny is the pitfall of pride and arrogance. You don’t know the true character of people until they have money, power, or position. Many good Christians remain faithful until they enter a government office or assumed an influential position, and you begin to wonder if they still know God. You never truly know who a person is until they have influence or great opportunities. That is when you discover who is who. Before then, when you call upon them, they would answer, “Here am I, use me.” But once a little elevation comes, you can no longer reach them.

We all need to beware of pride because lucifer became Satan not because God rejected him, but rather because he became proud. God made him head of the angels, and the position entered his head, and that same position crashed him from his place. Whatever level of money, influence, or impact God gives you, may it never enter your head.

A little position, a little influence, has ruined many people. Yet I have learned to hold every level of blessing with an open, humble heart. I have gone for crusades this year in places with lack of basic amenities. In fact, in one of the places, I had to use my phone’s touch-light to prepare messages at night. Yet by the same grace, I can fly anywhere in the world, at any time, by any means I choose. That contrast keeps a man’s heart in proper perspective before God.

I am trusting the Lord to keep me in a place where He remains secure in me, convinced that pride will never claim this man. Lucifer was lost, and he is not recoverable; no blood sacrifice can redeem him. That is why God seems to be saying of many, “I would rather you make heaven than give you a position, money, or influence that will destroy you.”

Beloved, every level of increase God brings is a test disguised as a blessing. Uzziah did not fall the day he became king; he fell the day his strength convinced him that he no longer needed God. Strength itself is not the enemy, but strength not well managed becomes weakness. It can even become a destructive snare the enemy uses to destroy lives and destinies.Christian theology books

Whatever height the Lord takes you to, guard your heart fiercely. Pride does not announce itself before it destroys; it simply lifts the heart quietly until the fall becomes loud.

REMEMBER THIS: A major pitfall on the journey of life and destiny is the pitfall of pride and arrogance.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

Examine areas of recent increase in your life and ask God to search your heart for pride.
Practise humility in private, not just where others can see.
Manage your strength well so it doesn’t become weakness. Pray daily that your strength will never become the very thing that will destroy you.

PRAYER: Father, whatever strength or elevation You give me, let it never turn me into a stranger to You. Guard my heart from pride at every stage of increase so I can remain humble and usable in Your hands all through my life, Lord in Jesus’ Name.
