TOPIC: Abide In Me.

SCRIPTURE: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:5

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The more you spend time in the company of God, the more you begin to look like Him.

THE MESSAGE:

The branch does not struggle to produce fruit; it simply stays connected to the vine. That is exactly what God is saying to you today. God is not looking for talented or educated people; He is looking for people who will stay close enough to Him to begin to look like Him.

The devil will do his best to keep people away from walking in fellowship with God. Why? Because in our communion with God is our connection with His Life.

Jesus says in John 15:5, “I am the vine, ye are the branches.” He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. That is, “Abide in me so I can abide in you. Live in me, then I will live in you. Commune with me, and I will connect with you.”

Our communion with God – our prayers, our worship, our communication, spending time in His Presence; that is our means of connection to His Life.

Psalm 17:15 says, “As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness.” I shall be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness. That is, “When I behold His face, I awake in His likeness.” You know, what you look at affects what you look like. When we continue to behold Him, when we continue to stay around Him, after a while, we begin to look like Him.

Many times, someone would come around to speak with me after speaking with my wife, and the person would say, “This was the exact response I got, almost word for word.” It was not like that when we started as a couple. But because we continue to hang around each other, we begin to joke alike, talk alike, think alike, and even look alike. That is what happens to you in the company of God. A time comes when you have spent so much time in God’s Presence that, when the devil sees you coming, he thinks he has seen God.

That is very easy to understand from the mystery of the nail and the magnet. You place a nail beside a magnet, and the magnet will magnetise the nail. If you leave the nail with the magnet for a long time and then remove the nail and bring an office pin close to it, the nail will magnetize the office pin. What happened? The nail is now magnetic because it has acquired magnetic capacity by hanging around a magnetic field. That is how it is when you hang around God.

No wonder, when Moses stayed with God on the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights, something remarkable happened. When Moses came down, the people could not look at his face anymore. His face was like the sun because the glory he spent time around entered his body and saturated his face so that people could not look at his face.

Beloved, abide in the vine. Stay in His Presence. Hang around God until you carry a climate that the world around you cannot explain.

REMEMBER THIS: The more you spend time in the company of God, the more you begin to look like Him.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

Make time to fellowship with God consistently and let His Life saturate your spirit.
Identify what the devil has used to keep you busy away from God’s Presence and make a quality decision to prioritise God’s presence today.

PRAYER: Father, I receive the grace to be in Your company. Let Your Presence saturate me, transform my life, and cause me to carry a Divine climate that the world around me cannot explain, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
