Dunamis Seeds Of Destiny 5 October 2026 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche

TOPIC: The Dignity And Purpose Of Work.

SCRIPTURE: Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men. – Proverbs 22:29

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Work is not a curse because God is the originator of work.

THE MESSAGE:

Man was not created to be idle; man was created for work. Work is not a curse because God is the originator of work. It is resultless labour, that is, sweating without result, that is a curse. Work itself is not a curse.

Genesis 2:8 says that God planted a garden eastward in Eden and put the man whom He had formed there, to dress it and to keep it. This shows us that work was part of God’s plan for man from the beginning.

God is a worker. Genesis 2:2 says, And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made.

Jesus is also a worker. In John 5:17, He says, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

The Holy Spirit is a worker as well, because He works miracles among us (Galatians 3:5).

Therefore, God the Father works, Jesus, God the Son works, and the Holy Spirit works. Therefore, man is required to work. Ecclesiastes 9:10 says, Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.

Now, what is work?

Work is the engagement of life’s time, energy, and ability for results and rewards. You give your time, your energy, and your abilities to produce results and receive rewards.

Work is also the channel for the expression of life’s potential, wisdom, skill, or learning. If you are being paid a salary every month and you are not putting in your potential, engaging your wisdom and skill, or putting in what you learnt, you are not truly working.

Work can also be seen as the avenue for difference-making, solution provision, change creation, and contribution offering. That was what Joseph did. That was what Daniel did. That was what David did. They did not merely occupy positions; they made a difference, provided solutions, created change, and offered their contributions.

The main purpose of work is not just the earning of salary, but the making of difference.

Beloved, refuse to see work as a burden or something below your status or standard. Engage your potentials, deploy your wisdom and skills, provide solutions, create changes, and offer your contributions. As you become more diligent in your business, you position yourself for the fulfilment of Proverbs 22:29: “He shall stand before kings.”

REMEMBER THIS: Work is not a curse because God is the originator of work.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

Identify the potentials, wisdom, skill, or learning that you need to deploy more effectively in your work.
Look for a solution you can provide or a positive change you can create at your place of work, in your church, community, nation, etc.
Commit yourself to doing whatever your hand finds to do with diligence and with all your might.
PRAYER: Father, thank You for creating me with the capacity to work. Deliver me from the spell of indolence and help me to engage my time, energy, ability, wisdom, and skill diligently and profitably, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
