Dunamis Seeds Of Destiny 16 October 2026 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche

TOPIC: The Dividends Of Prayer.

SCRIPTURE: I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right. – Isaiah 45:19

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Prayer is not a religious routine; it is a platform for tangible results.

The MESSAGE:

Our anchor Scripture makes it clear that it is not a waste of time or a vain effort to seek God. Seeking God is not a waste of time; it is a profitable investment of time with tangible benefits or dividends.

When you look up to God in faith, you don’t look down in shame. Prayer is both a privilege and a platform to access and receive answers from God. Prayer is a spiritual exercise with proven physical and spiritual dividends.

Proofs of the dividends of prayer abound in Scripture. We can see from the examples of people like Jacob (Genesis 32:24-28), Jabez (1 Chronicles 4:9-10), Hannah (1 Samuel 1:10-12, 20), and others.

You see, prayer is not designed to be a religious routine. It is not an activity of conscience. Prayer is not what you do with the motive: “Let me just satisfy my conscience that I have prayed.” Prayer is a beneficial spiritual engagement that attracts both spiritual and physical dividends.

Many religions of this world don’t expect anything from their prayers. All they do is, “Let us just pray because it is commanded that we should pray.” No! Prayer has tangible results. I have seen many results of prayer in my life as well as in the lives of people I prayed for.

What then are the dividends of prayer? What is the profit of prayer?

In our study today, we shall be exploring two dividends of prayer.

Prayer eliminates the curses of life and establishes the Blessing of God.
Many people today are victims of diverse curses and negativities of life. Jacob was an example. When he said, “I will not let you go until you bless me” (Genesis 32:26, paraphrased), he was saying in essence: “I won’t let you go until you take every curse out of my life. Deliver me from the curses of life.”
Prayer eliminates the curses of life and establishes the Blessing of God.

Prayer brings a change of character and identity to a person’s life.
“Your name shall be called no more Jacob” (Genesis 32:27-28, paraphrased) was not just a change of name but a change of character and identity. This was because Jacob was not just a name; Jacob was a behaviour type. Jacob was a character trait. It was an expression. Attached to the names people bear are hidden meanings, connotations and implications. That was the case of Jacob before his Life-changing encounter at the place of prayer.
At the place of prayer, that negative identity people usually associate with you is going to change. At the place of prayer, the person you used to be gives way for the person you are meant to be. Jacob was who he used to be, but Israel was who he was meant to be. At the place of prayer, the person he used to be gave way for the person he was meant to become.

Beloved, there are tangible results of prayer. There are dividends of prayer. We do not seek God in vain; we seek Him in gains.

REMEMBER THIS: Prayer is not a religious routine; it is a platform for tangible results.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

Make prayer a consistent part of your daily life.
Trust God for enlargement and transformation as you seek Him in prayer.
