Open Heaven For Teens 17 October 2026

TOPIC – Rivalry Trap.

MEMORISE: For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. 2 Corinthians 10:12

BIBLE READING: Galatians 6:4-5

4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

5 For every man shall bear his own burden.

THE MESSAGE:

Rivalry is a state in which two people compete for the same thing. Many teenagers compare themselves to their siblings, friends, or peers, and this leads to feelings of jealousy or inadequacy. As a mother, I see the uniqueness in all my children because God gave them to me for different reasons, so I do not make the mistake of comparing them. Today. I also want you to avoid the foolishness of comparing yourself with other people; rather, focus on your studies, work, or ministry.

Rivalry breeds resentment and division. For instance, Joseph’s brothers treated him as a rival because they were jealous of his dreams. They resented him so much and eventually sold him into slavery (Genesis 37:5-28). Don’t ever be like Joseph’s older brothers. Avoid jealousy at all costs, because it often leads to rivalry. When Someone around you is making progress, rejoice with him or her (Romans 12:15): your turn will come someday. My dear child, I pray that God will open your eyes to see your unique worth in His plan, in Jesus’ name.

KEY POINT:
Avoid the pitfalls of rivalry.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Luke 1:24-56 Deuteronomy 33-34

HYMN 4 – BE GLAD IN THE LORD AND REJOICE

1 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,
All ye that are upright in heart;
And ye that have made him your choice,
Bid sadness and sorrow depart.

Refrain:
Rejoice, rejoice!
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice!

2 Be joyful, for He is the Lord,
On earth and in heaven supreme;
He fashions and rules by His word;
The Mighty and strong to redeem

3 What though in the conflict for right
Your enemies almost prevail,
God’s armies, just hid from your sight,
Are more than the foes which assail.

4 Though darkness surround you by day,
Your sky by the night be o’ercast,
Let nothing your spirit dismay,
But trust till the danger is past.

5 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,
His praises proclaiming in song;
With harp, and with organ and voice
The loud hallelujahs prolong!
