TOPIC: Heaven Is Not For Sinners.

SCRIPTURE: …and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. – Revelation 21:8

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Church is open to everyone, but Heaven is not.

The MESSAGE:

One of the greatest deceptions of our time is the assumption that being in church automatically guarantees one a place in Heaven. There are people inside the Church with a bitter, envious, jealous and wicked heart. The Church is open to everyone, but Heaven is not.

The Bible mentions sorcery, which is witchcraft. Someone may say, “But I am not a witch.” Please note that bitterness is elementary witchcraft. Bitterness develops into wickedness, and wickedness progresses into witchcraft. For no reason, people see you and hate you. They just don’t like you.

The danger is that this is not only happening among unbelievers; it is also happening among believers in church. Brother attacking brother, people in the same department gossiping against another person, people sitting in Church quarrelling and unable to talk to each other. They came to God’s Presence, violating God’s Principles right in His Presence.

In today’s study, we shall look at certain heart dispositions and practices that must not be allowed to take root in the life of anyone who desires to make heaven

Bitterness and wickedness
Bitterness is elementary witchcraft. Witchcraft develops from bitterness, it matures into wickedness and wickedness progresses into witchcraft. You may be laughing with someone, hailing him, and after you hail him, you nail him. Do not allow envy, jealousy and wickedness to take root in your heart. What begins as a seemingly small attitude in the heart can develop into something destructive.
Idolatry
People who patronise other gods must be careful, especially in the name of going for prayers. You might introduce yourself into idolatry and occultism without realising the seriousness of what you are doing.
You may say, “I did not do the sacrifice in the village,” but you sent them money to do it on your behalf. They told you, “Just give us money; don’t worry, we know what to do.” No! If you know what you are doing, you must understand that you are already a partaker.

Lies and Falsehood
The Scripture says, “…all liars…” (Revelation 21:8). Someone goes through school with another person’s certificate, writes JAMB for another person, reduces his date of birth to secure a job, or hides a previous child from a spouse. These are all lies. Some even arrange marriages to get papers, present themselves as husband and wife, and later divorce. This is also a lie.
What about the lie of extra body parts? It is a big lie. Some people are just lies in motion.

Beloved, the church is open to everyone, but not Heaven. Deal with bitterness, reject idolatry and flee every form of falsehood.

REMEMBER THIS: The Church is open to everyone, but Heaven is not.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

Examine your heart and deal with every root of bitterness, envy, jealousy and wickedness.
Renounce every form of idolatry, occult practice and dependence on other powers apart from God.
Make up your mind to live in truth and correct every known lie in your life.
PRAYER: Father, deliver me from bitterness, wickedness, idolatry and every form of falsehood. Give me the grace to walk in truth, righteousness and holiness, and prepare me for eternity, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
