Open Heaven For Teens 4 November 2026
TOPIC – Eternity In View.
MEMORISE: For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his Own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? – Matthew 16:26.
BIBLE READING: Matthew 6:19-21
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
The MESSAGE:
Curiosity got the better part of me when I heard the phrase You Only Live Once’ (YOLO) for the first time. From the comments of young people online, I observed that the statement often leads to reckless decisions. For example, if you tell a teenager to be careful about overeating or to cut down on soda drinks, he or she may become defensive, saying, “You only live once,” which implies “let me enjoy my life; we will all die anyway.” This is not the attitude of a wise child. The Bible says that there is life after death, and all your actions here on earth will determine where your soul will spend eternity, whether in heaven or hell.
My dear child, your choices today shape your eternity, so please focus on eternal things, not on earthly pleasures. While it is okay to enjoy life, remember that your ultimate purpose is to glorify God and prepare for eternity with Him in heaven. YOLO’ to you should mean living purposefully, not carelessly.
REFLECTION:
Where will you spend eternity?
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Deuteronomy 2-4
HYMN 67 – Ho, My Comrades
1 Ho, my comrades! see the signal
Waving in the sky!
Reinforcements now appearing,
Victory is nigh!
Chorus
“Hold the fort, for I am coming,”
Jesus signals still,
Wave the answer back to heaven,
“By Thy grace we will, “
2 See the mighty host advancing
Satan leading on:
Mighty men around us falling,
Courage almost gone!
3 See the glorious banner waving!
Hear the trumpet blow!
In our Leader’s name we’ll triumph
Over ev’ry foe!
4 Fierce and long the battle rages,
But our help is near:
Onward comnes our great
commander,
Cheer, my comrades, cheer!
